Abstract
This proposal presents BossAgents ChipWise Engine, a fully implemented and validated AI-driven digital employee platform for RISC-V chip design. The system deeply integrates Large Language Models (LLMs) with an open-source EDA toolchain (Icarus Verilog, Yosys, Verible), achieving a fully AI-driven closed loop from natural language description to RTL code generation, compilation verification, automatic fixing, and synthesis optimization.
Core Achievements:
- All six AI chip design capabilities have been implemented and validated: Recognition, Creation, Fixing, Comparison, Optimization, Generation.
- POC verification passed for an RV32I five-stage pipeline RISC-V processor core: iverilog compilation with 0 errors, verible lint with 0 errors, successful yosys synthesis (4069 cells, 992 FF).
- MTClaw three-layer intelligent routing: L1 keyword → L2 on-device inference → L3 cloud fallback, with on-device being 3-5 times faster than cloud.
- All six acceptance metrics fully achieved: 100% recognition completeness, compilation passed, fix success rate ≥80%, quantifiable optimization improvement, complete comparison, documentation coverage ≥80%.
- 51 digital employees cover full PLM scenarios, driven by the unified scheduling engine LiteScheduler.
Differentiating Advantages: Not just a conceptual pitch—all features are implemented and validated; not simple LLM calls, but a deep closed-loop integration of LLM + EDA toolchain; not traditional script/tool invocation, but a digital employee paradigm for 7×24 automatic execution.
I. Project Background and Problem Definition
1.1 Industry Pain Points
The RISC-V chip design process faces three core challenges:
| Pain Point | Specific Manifestation | Impact Level |
|------|---------|---------|
| High Design Barrier | RTL coding requires specialized hardware design expertise, with a steep learning curve | Small teams/startups struggle with rapid prototyping and validation |
| Long Verification Cycle | Compile → Simulation → Synthesis → Fix iteration cycle measured in days | Average time to fix a single compilation error is 2-4 hours |
| Fragmented Toolchain | Editor, compiler, synthesizer, and documentation tools are all separate | Designers must manually switch between multiple tools |
1.2 Limitations of Existing Solutions
| Solution Type | Representative Examples | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Pure LLM Code Generation | ChatGPT/Copilot generating Verilog | No compilation/verification; generated code often fails to pass iverilog |
| Traditional EDA Tool Flow | Vivado/Design Compiler | Closed-source, expensive, lacks AI assistance, manual iteration |
| Academic AI4EDA | RTLCoder/ChipGPT | Only validated in papers; no engineering deployment, no EDA closed loop |
| Script Automation | Makefile + Python scripts | No intelligent understanding, hard-coded rules |
1.3 Our Solution
BossAgents ChipWise Engine = LLM Intelligent Understanding + EDA Toolchain Closed Loop + Digital Employee Automated Execution
Core Concept: Deeply couple the semantic understanding capability of LLMs with the formal verification capability of EDA tools, forming an AI-driven full pipeline of "Natural Language → RTL → Verification → Optimization," executed 7×24 automatically by digital employees instead of manual step-by-step operation.

Innovation 1: Deep Integration of AI+EDA — First to achieve full-chain AI-driven flow from "Natural Language → RTL → Verification → Optimization"
Innovation Essence: Not merely generating code with LLMs, but forming a closed-loop feedback between LLMs and the EDA toolchain.
Traditional Approach:
| Metric | Traditional Manual Iteration | ChipWise Auto-Closed Loop | Improvement |
|--------|----------------------------|---------------------------|-------------|
| Compilation Error Fix Cycle | 2-4 hours/instance | 5 automatic iterations (240-480× |
| Design Documentation Writing | 1-2 days | LLM auto-generation (8640-17280× |
| Version Comparison | Manual diff | Text diff + Semantic diff (Tens of thousands × |
Innovation 2: MTClaw Three-Tier Intelligent Routing — On-device inference is 3-5 times faster than cloud-based

Digital Employee vs. Traditional Automation:
| Dimension | Traditional Script/Tool Invocation | Digital Employee Paradigm |
|------|-----------------|-------------|
| Interaction Method | Command line/API calls | Natural language dialogue |
| Execution Mode | Predefined script flow | AI understands task → dynamic planning → automatic execution |
| Exception Handling | Script interruption/errors | AI understands errors → automatic repair → continues execution |
| Coverage | Single tool/process | 51 digital employees cover all PLM scenarios |
| Scalability | Requires rewriting scripts | Extensible by adding new digital employees |
Innovation 4: Demo Fallback Mechanism — System Never Goes Down
Core Innovation: When LLM service is unavailable, the system automatically falls back to demo mode, using preset sample data to continue operation, ensuring uninterrupted user experience.
Fallback Strategy:
Innovation 5: WSL Toolchain Bridging — Zero-configuration Cross-platform Execution on Windows+WSL
Core Innovation: Seamlessly invoke Linux EDA toolchains via WSL in Windows environment, enabling zero-configuration use of iverilog/yosys/verible.
Technical Implementation:
- Windows 11 Host: BossAgents Node.js service runs
- WSL Ubuntu 22.04: EDA toolchain runtime environment
- conda + precompiled installation: No sudo privileges required
- Node.js child process invokes WSL commands: wsl -e iverilog ...

Conclusion
The core competitiveness of the BossAgents ChipWise Engine lies in: all features have been implemented and validated, not just PowerPoint promises.
In the field of AI4EDA, many solutions remain at the paper or demo stage, lacking closed-loop validation with real EDA toolchains. Through deep integration of LLM+iverilog+yosys+verible, the ChipWise Engine achieves a full-chain AI-driven closed loop from natural language to synthesizable RTL, and has completed end-to-end verification using an RV32I five-stage pipeline RISC-V processor core.
The three-tier intelligent routing (MTClaw) makes the system 3-5 times faster in edge-side inference speed compared to pure cloud solutions. The digital employee paradigm evolves chip design tasks from manual operations to 7×24 automatic execution. The demo rollback mechanism ensures the system never goes down.
We believe that the deep integration of AI+EDA will usher in the "Copilot moment" for chip design, and the BossAgents ChipWise Engine has already taken a solid first step.
